Anthony Limbrick - Woking FC Manager 2017-18

‘At Woking FC we had a young squad with huge potential, many of the players are now playing in the football league. At this level you may have over 46 games in a season so it’s important to keep your best players fit and available and yourself the best chance. Tiahan and his coaches came in with good knowledge and experience on how best to prepare the players for the long season. In pre-season Tiahan was responsible for physical program, they implemented robustness and power testing and also football specific fitness tests. They then had the data to provide players with individual training programs and all the resources for the players so they were ready for the season. Tiahan and I kept in close contact throughout the season and we worked with the medical staff to keep injuries to a minimum, and make sure our recovery was managed well. As budgets are always tight investing in the physical preparation is often overlooked at this level but the players hugely benefited from the assessments and individual programs. I highlighted key team players for Tiahan to pay special attention to which was reflected by their involvement throughout the season. I would highly recommend Innervate Performance to help improve the physical preparation and injury prevention of any football club at this level.’

‘I had weekly one-to-one sessions with Tiahan and a tailored program. This included a performance pack with guidance for exercises including a mobility program. The support I received was hugely beneficial for me in preparation for my competition season. Being on physical form is obviously a big part of competing at a high level and allows you to be as competitive as possible. It’s also really important to stay on form to avoid any injuries. Peaking for competition and feeling ready comes from good S&C.

My strength and power massively improved over the course of the season. While competing I felt faster and more physically dominant on the piste. These gains went hand in hand with a more consistent approach to mobility and ensured that I didn’t get injured over the course of a long international season. These physical improvements were hugely important in creating my best season yet. I finished 2nd in two Junior World Cups, was ranked 7th in the world and won the Senior National Championships. There was always a genuine interest in getting to know the ins and outs of my sport so that they waere best placed to work with me. Having someone like that in your corner is brilliant. The sessions were always engaging and I felt that I was always being pushed. I really enjoyed working with Innervate Performance.’

‘Innervate Performance provided exemplary S&C sessions that increased the fitness and strength of our top athletes, allowing them to perform at their best all year round. Before we had access to a performance team there was limited professional coaching that we could receive, but since working with Innervate Performance we have been able to follow a more structured training programme that integrates well with our current training, allowing our athletes to take control of their personal training and reap the rewards at competitions. We are trying to improve the efficiency with which we run, allowing our runners to use less energy and effectively run faster, as well as improving our strength, speed and power to be ever more effective athletes. During our time working together, we have successfully defended numerous indoor and outdoor titles. Physical preparation is important to us because we want to be ready for every competition we have, and ensure that all our athletes are as fit as possible to avoid injury. This allows us to field our strongest teams at all our competitions and perform at our best throughout the year. The sessions allowed both our XC and Athletics sides of the club come together and train together, which usually doesn’t happen regularly, giving the club more of a team feel. We were also very happy with how the sessions integrated with our current training and complimented it, giving a more coherent feel than ever before with integrating S&C and a mixture of different training programmes. Innervate Performance provided really effective coaching that compliments a wide variety of disciplines and training programmes.’

‘Firstly, during pre-season we completed a testing day to get a gauge of where I was physically and what areas needed developing the most. The tests were so thorough and specific it left no grey areas for where my weaknesses in my body had been up to that point without me even realising. Of the back of my screening results Tiahan put together a programme that would best help me maximise my body’s potential strength and in turn make me much more efficient whenever I stepped on the training ground or pitch. After just weeks of doing the programme it was becoming clear to me how much I had missed having guidance like this before in my career, I was not only seeing the physical changes in my body but I was feeling the changes on the pitch, it felt with Tiahan’s help and expertise I had unlocked stability and power which I wasn’t aware I had. I was rewarded throughout last season with being called up to the national team at the level I play on three occasions, I look back now and realise how much more dominant my strength programme was making me both physically and mentally. For me another pleasing aspect was that I went the whole of the season with no soft tissue muscle injuries and featured in forty five games in the season. I honestly feel that the programmes and individual work I done throughout last season improved my performances ten fold and allowed me to reach new levels and push for new, better goals. The hard work will continue and I now use Tiahan programmes daily and will continue to see the benefits of doing so. ‘
